I was able to map this to a key and emulate that key using a wireless game controller. I used the beta version to get the record menu item. I have to have a simple way of starting recording and playing back. But I want to record standing up and I don't have an audio engineer to press the buttons for me. I have a monitor button that provides lagless monitoring. I was using headphones into my audio interface. I've had to go back to using a hardware recorder for now. Avid behaves in the same way and guide VO recording needs muting to avoids howls. Depending on your audio device you should also have the option to monitor the input without latency too.

In the Fairlight > Bus Format menu, create a new sub-mix bus, then in the mixer send the output from the tracks you're recording to the sub-mix bus rather than main output. However, I found a workaround that works for me.
I haven't had any luck with the method suggested by Will Howard (above) - regardless of which input mode I use, once I mute the track I lose the metering. This has been bothering me for a while, as it feels like a major oversight not to be able to do this. So even if the track is muted input level shows. Also in Project Settings > Fairlight > Track Meters > use "Track Source" i.e. Will Howard wrote:Mute the track not your monitors.
